Brecon 50 Miles

from £39.99

This training plan was built with the South Wales mountains in mind. Having spent years running and hiking across the area, from the classic Pen y Fan horseshoe to getting thoroughly misplaced around the shake holes of the Llangorse plateau, I know the terrain and the demands it places on you.

Training for 50 miles is about consistency. Over 20 weeks, you’ll steadily build your aerobic base through structured progression, using 2 to 3 week build phases followed by recovery weeks to absorb the training.

The sessions reflect what you’ll actually face on race day. Sustained climbing efforts, rolling mountain terrain that constantly changes rhythm, technical trails on tired legs, and back to back long runs that prepare you for the fatigue that inevitably arrives deep into an ultra.

By race day, you’ll know how to climb efficiently without redlining, descend without destroying your quads, fuel through changing intensity, and keep moving when fatigue, weather, and rough terrain all begin stacking against you.

Delivered through TrainingPeaks and synced directly to your sports watch, the plan is simple to follow and easy to fit into daily life.

The First Time level is available now, with Intermediate and Advanced plans coming soon.

What Is Training Peaks Premium?

TP Premium gives you a lot of extra features, but they aren’t necessary for everyone. One of the big differences is it gives you the ability to move workouts. Our plans are carefully designed so that each week and exercise compliments the next. But life doesn't always allow us to follow it exactly. Whilst we don’t recommend changing our plans structure, moving workouts around to fit your schedule better can be more productive overall. Don’t worry, we won’t leave you on your own. If you have any questions get in touch.

You can see the full list of differences here.

It normally costs £14.99 a month, we get a slightly better price as a coach and can include this price as a 1 time fee during the length of your plan.

Once your plan is finished, we will revert your account to Training Peaks Basic

What are the trails of South Wales like?

Expect proper mountain running in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, better known as the Brecon Beacons. The terrain is wild, exposed, and constantly changing, with steep climbs, runnable ridges, rocky descents, boggy moorland, and fast-changing weather. Even in summer, conditions on the tops can turn cold, wet, and windy very quickly.
