Introducing Beyond Ultra Bike

Adventure, Skills and Performance, now on two wheels!

My love of adventure doesn't stop with running. I'm just as happy swapping my trail shoes for a pair of SPD shoes and clipping in for a long day on the bike. In fact, mountain biking has been part of my life for longer than trail running.

My mountain biking journey started at school when I got my first proper mountain bike, a KTM Tribute, a full downhill rig that I absolutely loved. I would ride from home to the trails at North Nibley, around 10 miles away, spend the day riding, and then either make the journey home or call my parents for rescue after breaking something, whether that was the bike or me!

At 14, I completed an Oxford to Cambridge 100-mile ride with my uncle. To get me into the event, we may have had to be a little creative with my age and convince them I was 16. We took my old hardtail, fitted some skinny tyres and set off for the adventure.

After college, I spent a summer in Whistler riding every day, surviving on cookie dough and sleeping on the floor of an apartment shared by eight people that was definitely only designed for six.

In 2016, I returned to mountain biking, although that comeback was short-lived after a crash resulted in a torn kidney. Recovery naturally led me towards more grounded endurance sports, eventually taking me down the path of ultra running, coaching and mountain adventures.

Now, with some exciting plans ahead, I'm bringing those two passions together with the launch of Beyond Ultra Bike.

We are going to split our services into two different areas:

Guiding

The Forest of Dean and South Wales offer some of the best mountain biking in the UK, and we want to help you experience it. Our guided rides are designed to showcase the incredible riding on our doorstep, from flowing singletrack and trail centre classics to rugged mountain adventures.

Whether you're visiting the area for the first time or you're a local looking to discover new trails, we'll take care of the planning so you can focus on enjoying the ride. Our guided experiences are about more than simply following a route. We'll share local knowledge, trail etiquette, riding tips and the stories behind the places we explore. Expect great trails, incredible scenery, good company and routes tailored to your ability and ambitions.

Future guided adventures will include:

  • Forest of Dean trail centre rides

  • Hidden natural trails

  • Full-day mountain adventures in South Wales

  • Beginner-friendly exploration days

  • Endurance challenge rides

  • Bikepacking and multi-day adventures

Coaching

Great riders combine strength, endurance, technique and confidence to get the most from every ride. I believe the biggest upgrade you can make, isn't always a new bike. It's becoming a stronger, more skilled and more confident rider.

Our coaching comes in two forms: in-person skills development sessions and structured training plans designed to help you get more from your riding. Whether you want to tackle technical trails with more confidence, prepare for a big event or simply enjoy longer days on the bike, we'll help you develop the skills and fitness needed to ride further.

Skill Development Sessions
Our practical, on-the-bike sessions focus on helping you climb more efficiently, descend with confidence and spend more time enjoying the trail instead of fighting it.

Areas we will focus on include:

  • Cornering confidence

  • Descending technique

  • Line choice

  • Bike handling

  • Jumps and drops

  • Technical riding skills

Sessions will be available as both 1:1 coaching and small group experiences.

Training Plans
Whether you have a cycling holiday planned, you're preparing for your next race or you simply want to become a stronger rider, our training plans will help you reach your goals. Delivered through TrainingPeaks, our plans are built around your current fitness, experience and available training time.

We will offer:
1:1 Training Plans: Fully customised plans designed around your goals, helping you build the fitness, strength and resilience needed for your next challenge.
Development Plans: Structured follow-along programmes designed to improve your endurance, strength and riding ability over a set period of time.
